News & Articles What makes it particularly rewarding to be a part of this highly acclaimed open-air theater production is the natural affinity Jelinek Cork Group has with the classical and age-old Shakespeare theater which is performed “… under the frawns of a 100-year-old willow ….” here at Coronation Park. The products Jelinek Cork Group produces are all made from a tree as well …. the bark of the cork oak tree which regenerates itself after each harvest without harm to the tree. Much like Shakespeare theater which remains alive and strong through the ages, the old cork oak trees remain an environmentally and ecologically friendly renewable resource. Jelinek Cork Group was founded in 1855 and is one of the oldest cork companies in the world. William Shakespeare (1564-1616) plays and productions have been entertaining audiences for a number of centuries. Jelinek Cork Group strongly believes in the preservation and continuation of historical properties and events. Two years ago Jelinek Cork purchased and restored the oldest house in Halton (1816) built by United Empire Loyalists and known today as the Cork House. The house serves as a museum, product showroom, and factory outlet all wrapped in one. Much like Shakespeare’s productions with their ageless twists and wit so too the Cork House will allow visitors to discover the mystique of the cork oak tree. Jelinek Cork Group would like to congratulate the organizers, directors, and performers for their continued commitment to making this Festival of Classics such a wonderful and rewarding event. Jelinek Cork is further pleased to have you in attendance and wishes you much enjoyment during the Festival.
